KOPPER+  Ultimate Durability

Compared with conventional antimicrobial film and/or coating such as self-disinfecting coating products, antimicrobial copper plastic can maintain its antimicrobial power despite scratches on the product surface because antimicrobial copper particles are uniformly distributed on the inside.

The current antimicrobial coating applied for high contact areas in Singapore has it's a limitation as it does not give assurance that the surface is 100% coated with the disinfectant.

Why KOPPER+?

Consumers' needs for non-toxic antimicrobial products are increasing, but copper, which has the highest antimicrobial activity, is more than 3 to 5 times more expensive than stainless steel products that are currently widely used.

KOPPER+, actual material produced in Korea, is an antimicrobial copper material introduced the first time in Singapore. Conventional copper is expensive, has limited moldability and limited product applications.

KOPPER+ plastic material can be mass-produced at a reasonable price and various products can be produced, exhibiting the same antimicrobial activity of 99.9% as conventional copper.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) on KOPPER+ Film

1. What is this material made of?

-> The base plastic is polyethylene or thermoplastic polyurethane material used in household goods, toys, electrical insulators, radio and television cases, and packaging materials. The antimicrobial copper is used to compound together with the plastic, to produce a film. For more information regarding antimicrobial copper, please find the interview by Professor Bill Keevil, Professor of Environmental Healthcare from the University of Southampton on the COVID-19 with Sally Taylor on BBC South;

2. What are the applications this film can be applied to?

-> Typically, it is applied to apartments, hotels, department stores, lifts....etc. any surfaces that are touchable / contactable by an unspecified number of people. It can also be applied to school desks with antimicrobial non-slip pads for students.
-> We have several different products that are installed onto surfaces in different ways: Mainly adhesive, non-adhesive, and mould / shrink onto any surface.

3.  Is there a test proving that no virus/bacteria/allergies are deposited on the film?

-> There is a certificate of 99.999% antibacterial activity against E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Pneumococcal, and MRSA from KCL (Korea Conformity Laboratories).

4.  There will be multiple users touching the film, would the virus/bacteria or allergies stay on the film?

-> Domestic certification agencies show that after 12 hours, the antimicrobial activity is 99.999%.
-> In a recent study conducted with Coronavirus at Korea University, it was found that the antiviral function showed 97.2% performance after 24 hours.
-> Please use it for the purpose of prevention like a protection respiratory mask.

5. What is the life of the film, i.e. # of touches, year, etc…?

-> As there is no institution that certifies a lifetime of antibacterial activity in Korea, the antimicrobial activity was the same as in the initial stage when the test was conducted for a period of 1 year and 6 months.
-> Therefore, it is said that the lifetime is at least 1 year and 6 months.

6. Is this film subject to all-weather, i.e. humidity, heat, wetness, cold, etc…?

->  In the case of adhesive film, it is weak to high humidity and high temperature, so the adhesive strength may be lowered.

7.  What is the warranty provided for this film?

-> Typically, a 1-year warranty period without physical damage for the non-adhesive film. We recommend replacing the film every 12 months. For the adhesive film, the warranty is up to 6 months after installation.
-> Warranty pre-condition: Applicable for all products installed by our technicians.

8. If film cracks in between, is there a risk of transmission of virus/bacteria/allergies?

-> It is compounded and produced by extrusion and injection, so it has the same antimicrobial activity unless it is completely torn.

9. How long does it take for installation and what is the methodology?

-> Non-adhesive type: Cut the film according to the intended use and stick it using double-sided tape or tape.
-> Adhesive type: After cutting the film according to the purpose of use, remove the release-film and stick it to the desired place without air bubbles (It's better to use a pressable tool such as a scrapper and a card).

10. Are there any areas that are not recommended for the film?

-> There's practically not much issue in installing films anywhere, as we do have more than one range of products. Some are more resistant than others, our colleagues can advise which product to use after site inspection. In any case, since there is a warranty period that comes with our products, as long customers adhere to advice as to how not to intentionally vandalize the films, its antimicrobial properties should remain active throughout the recommended period.
